John is the founder of Tamarack Global. He began his career in banking and hedge funds investing in global markets. Early in his career, it became obvious to John that technology was having a profound impact on markets. The potential in finding insight in the data exhaust of the growing digital economy was alluring. As he went deeper, every answer was met with new questions. Every new question opened doors to a new technology, new business model, new scientific discipline, new entrepreneurs and so on. New technologies and new markets are driving change at such speed, scope and scale it’s almost impossible to comprehend. What became clear was huge knowledge gaps existed, in these gaps became the early investments of Tamarack Global.
Jamie Lee
Managing Partner
Jamie Lee is a co-Founder of Tamarack Global and currently serves as the Managing Partner. He has had a successful career in the financial services industry across both investing and advisory roles. Jamie started his career in Goldman Sachs derivatives business, was responsible for a $1.5B Equity Long / Short book at Coatue Mgmt, and advised technology companies in a special situations group at JPMorgan. Jamie is an early investor in Archer Aviation, Fuse Energy, , Figure AI, Ample, Genies, Antithesis, Provi, and many others. Jamie earned a B.A. in Economics from Williams College and an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School, where he also graduated from the school’s Deep Value Investing program.
Austin Bishop
General Partner
Austin Bishop began his investing career in 2012, mining Bitcoin in his apartment while pursuing a PhD in Engineering at Yale. He dropped out to join Marshall Wace, a $60B hedge fund where he spent 6 years as a quantitative researcher and head of US Trading. While there, he built an early high-conviction thesis around investing in defense and near-shoring key industrial technologies and went on to co-found the AI-powered manufacturing company Atomic Industries. Austin is based in Washington DC, where he leads Tamarack’s relationships in the defense, government, and international communities.
